NoDa — North Davidson — is Charlotte’s historic arts and entertainment district. What started as a mill village around the old Highland Park Mill is now one of the most walkable neighborhoods in the city, full of galleries, music venues, craft breweries and restored mill houses.

The streets are narrow, the parking is tight, and when a car will not start on a Friday evening before a show at the Neighborhood Theatre, you need help fast. We come to you on the street, in the lot, or in your driveway.

NoDa sits just north of Uptown along North Davidson Street, bordered by the Sugar Creek light rail station to the north and Parkwood Avenue to the south. Nearby areas include Villa Heights, Optimist Park, and the edge of Plaza Midwood.

Common Car Problems in NoDa

NoDa has a mix of older homes, new apartments and busy commercial streets. The vehicle problems we see reflect that mix.

Battery failure in older vehicles. Many NoDa residents drive older cars that need more frequent battery and charging system attention.
Cooling system issues. Older radiators and hoses do not handle Charlotte summer heat well, especially sitting in traffic on North Davidson or waiting at the light at 36th Street.
Brake noise and wear. The stop-and-go pattern on the narrow streets and frequent parking maneuvers wear pads faster.

Getting Around NoDa

North Davidson Street is the main road through the neighborhood, but it gets busy during events and on weekend evenings. We use the side streets — 35th, 36th, and the residential roads off The Plaza — to get to you faster.

The Sugar Creek light rail station is at the north end of NoDa, and the 25th Street station is just south in Optimist Park. If you break down near either station, give us the station name.

We also cover the surrounding areas: Villa Heights, Optimist Park, Belmont, and the northern edge of Plaza Midwood. If you are near Cordelia Park or the McGill Rose Garden, those are good landmarks to give us.
