What the Test Covers
We fit a pressure tester to the system and bring it up to the pressure the cap is rated for, then hold it and watch for a drop. If pressure falls, the leak is real and we trace it.
The hose inspection
While the system is pressurised we check every hose properly:
- Upper and lower radiator hoses for swelling, softness or cracking
- Heater hoses, including the connections at the bulkhead
- Bypass and overflow hoses
- Clamp condition and tightness at every joint
- Radiator seams and end tanks
- Water pump weep hole for early bearing or seal failure
- Radiator cap seal and pressure rating
A hose that feels soft or spongy is close to failing even if it has not split yet. Catching that during a test is far cheaper than replacing it on the hard shoulder.
